Privacy Policy — Phone Number to WhatsApp
1. Overview
The Phone Number to WhatsApp Chrome extension is a privacy-first utility. It runs entirely in your browser and has no backend server. No personal data is collected, transmitted, or stored on any external server.
2. What the extension does
The extension scans visible text on webpages for phone numbers and adds a small button next to each valid mobile number. When you click the button, it opens https://wa.me/<number> in a new tab using the official WhatsApp link format. It also supports right-click on selected text and a manual number input in the popup.
3. Data collection
The extension does not collect any data. It does not record which phone numbers you view or click, which websites you visit, or any personal information. Nothing is sent to any server.
4. Local storage
The extension stores only user preferences in Chrome's chrome.storage.local API, on your device only. This includes: your selected default country (e.g. Germany), per-site enable/disable toggles, and the highlight-numbers setting. These preferences never leave your device.
5. Phone numbers
Phone numbers detected on webpages are processed locally in memory to validate and normalise them. They are not logged, stored, or transmitted. They exist only for the duration of the button-rendering operation.
6. Third-party services
When you click a WhatsApp button, your browser opens https://wa.me/ — a URL operated by WhatsApp LLC (Meta Platforms, Inc.). That interaction is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy. The extension itself has no involvement in that connection beyond opening the URL.
7. No analytics or tracking
The extension contains no analytics scripts, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no remote configuration. There is no tracking of any kind.
8. No account required
No login, registration, or account of any kind is required to use the extension.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be changed. Material changes will also be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing.
10. Contact
For questions about this privacy policy, open an issue on the project's GitHub repository or contact via the Chrome Web Store listing page.
