1. Overview & Controller

MeetingLens is designed and built as a local-first, privacy-conscious utility. We do not operate a backend server for the extension and do not collect, store, sell, or analyze your meeting data.

2. Data Handled Locally by the Extension

The extension processes and stores various preferences and configurations on your device. This data includes:

• OpenAI API Key: Entered by the user to perform live transcription and translation.
• Optional DeepSeek API Key: Entered by the user to generate optional reply suggestions.
• German Level Preference: Used to customize the vocabulary and explanation levels.
• User Profile / CV Context: Optional text inputs provided by you to enrich AI context for interview or meeting replies.
• Active Meeting/Job Context: Temporary inputs describing your current meeting goal.
• Recent Conversation Items: Short-lived, temporary text segments displayed in the side panel during use.

Where it is stored: This information is stored exclusively in your browser using Chrome's local storage API (`chrome.storage.local`). It is never transmitted to getdigitalguide.com and is never stored on our servers.

3. Data Shared with Third-Party AI Providers

To perform its core user-facing functions, MeetingLens communicates directly with your chosen AI providers via their API endpoints:

• Audio Chunks: Live audio captured from the tab is sent to OpenAI's transcription service for realtime de-speechification (speech-to-text).
• Transcript & Context: Written transcripts along with your configured job profile and recent conversation logs are transmitted to OpenAI and/or DeepSeek to generate translations, explanations, and reply suggestions.

These transfers are strictly necessary for the application to function. Because these calls are made using your own API keys, their usage is governed by your agreements and the privacy policies of the respective API providers. 4. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be absolutely clear, we do not access or collect any of the following information:

• We do NOT collect or see your API keys.
• We do NOT capture, listen to, or store your meeting audio.
• We do NOT log or retain meeting transcripts.
• We do NOT collect CVs, profiles, or job descriptions.
• We do NOT record your conversation history.
• We do NOT sell user data to anyone.
• We do NOT use user data for advertising or tracking.
• We do NOT permit human review of any meeting data.

5. Explanation of Chrome Extension Permissions

MeetingLens requests specific permissions in the browser to enable its functions. Below is an explanation of why each permission is required:

• tabCapture: Used to capture the audio stream of the active Chrome tab selected by you.
• offscreen: Required by Chrome extension standards to process the captured audio stream in a background context.
• sidePanel: Used to display the MeetingLens UI panel beside your active browsing workspace.
• storage: Used to store your configuration, preferences, and API keys locally on your device.
• activeTab: Used to interact with and stream audio from the active page that you explicitly choose to follow.
• Host permissions (api.openai.com, api.deepseek.com): Used exclusively to make direct API requests from your browser to these providers without passing through intermediary servers.

6. Meeting Consent & Legal Compliance

MeetingLens is a personal productivity tool. Before using MeetingLens in any call, video conference, or meeting, you are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all local audio-recording laws, workplace regulations, and meeting consent requirements.

7. Security of Your API Keys

Your API keys are stored locally in Chrome's sandbox environment. You can remove your API keys and configuration at any time by clearing the extension's settings, clearing your browser storage, or uninstalling the extension. Please treat your API keys as highly sensitive credentials.

8. Data Retention

All settings, profile data, and API keys remain on your device until you manually delete them, clear your browser cache, or uninstall the extension. Recent conversation histories shown in the side panel are stored only in memory and are discarded when the side panel is closed.

9. Google Limited Use Disclosure

“The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome extension permissions will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. MeetingLens uses accessed data only to provide and improve its single user-facing purpose: live meeting transcription, translation, explanation, and reply suggestions. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it.”
